A White House Halloween Party Activity Invited Kids to "Build the Wall"

Throughout his presidency, Trump has made many deplorable decisions involving children — especially those taken away from their parents at the US-Mexico border. Now, in the name of holiday fun, an White House Halloween party essentially encouraged American kids to turn their backs on those separated from their families. As reported by Yahoo News, at the White House staff’s annual Halloween party, held on October 25th in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, children of executive branch employees and VIP guests were encouraged to “build the wall” out of construction paper bricks colored with their names as one of the activities. As if this propaganda-like tactic couldn’t get any worse, construction worker gear was hung under a sign that read “Trump’s Crew,” according to GQ

“Horrified. We were horrified,” one anonymous attendee told Yahoo News

Star Wars‘ actor Mark Hamill took to Twitter to express his frustration. “Children are born innocent. They can only be taught racism & hatred. What they learned at this #WH event is frightening beyond words. Remember when a #POTUS was a role-model for kids? We’re better than this. #HalloweenHorrorStory,” he wrote.

Singer-songwriter Richard Marx also publicly shared his disgust. “Teach…your children well…to be ignorant and racist as hell…” he tweeted.

It turns out, this isn’t the first year that a Trump administration Halloween event has gone awry. In 2017, Trump taunted costumed children about their parents who are reporters. “I cannot believe the media produced such beautiful children. How the media did this, I don’t know.” He even turned to one little girl dressed as Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens and commented about her weight before handing her a treat. “You have no weight problems, that’s the good news.”

SheKnows’ request for comment from The White House wasn’t returned.
