Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Pop A Steatocystoma That Oozes 'Melted Butter'

  • In her newest Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper pops a steatocystoma on a female patient.
  • A steatocystoma is an often benign cyst that can develop in multiples known as steatocystoma multiplex.
  • Dr. Pimple Popper compares the sebum that comes from the steatocystoma to “melted butter.”

You know the deal: When Dr. Pimple Popper posts a video and it gets a “sensitive content” warning on Instagram, you know it’s going to be good.

That’s the case with dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD’s latest Instagram video featuring a cyst that you don’t see too often: a steatocystoma. “What could it be,” she wrote in the Instagram caption. “SURPRISE! It’s a #steatocystoma!”

(Quick refresher: Steatocystomas are benign cysts that often develop in “multiples” to form a skin disorder known as “steatocystoma multiplex,” according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Steatocystomas are usually filled with sebum, an oily substance, which ends up fueling the gunk inside.)

What could it be…SURPRISE! It’s a #steatocystoma! 💥🎉💥 #surprise #tgif #drpimplepopper

Once you click past the sensitive content warning, you see Dr. Pimple Popper slicing into an unidentified body part. “I think this could be a steatocystoma,” she says as she slices. Suddenly, whitish yellowish goo starts gushing out of nowhere, and Dr. Pimple Popper quickly tries to stop the river with gauze.

That doesn’t work—the cyst is flowing like Niagara Falls. Dr. Pimple Popper squeezes a little more, and even more gunk gushes out. “You’ve never squeezed any of these, huh?” the doctor asks the patient. “Never,” she says.

As Dr. Pimple Popper keeps barely touching the cyst, it keeps practically shooting out goo. Dr. Pimple Popper then goes into steatocystomas 101. “It’s a type of cyst that really kind of produces oil,” she says. “It actually kind of look—to gross you out—it kind of looks like butter, melted butter.”

When all is said and done gushing, Dr. Pimple Popper is able to get in there with her tweezers and remove the cyst’s sac.

One more thing to note: The patient has a few more of these nasty cysts around her body, and she hasn’t squeezed any of them. Something tells me she’s going to star in a few more of these videos in the future…
