Have you ever loved a product so much that you basically become the brand's unofficial spokesperson? Who among us hasn't posted a shout-out on Instagram about a moisturizer or mascara and jokingly (and fruitlessly) pleaded for a sponsorship? Well, it's a little different with celebrities, for whom a love of a particular product can lead to a major partnership — especially a celebrity as beloved as Reese Witherspoon. The actor and entrepreneur has just become the new global brand ambassador for Biossance, which just so happens to make her favorite face oil.
"I have some pigmentation from pregnancy — at least I'm told it's from pregnancy," Witherspoon tells Allure, when asked why exactly she loves Biossance's Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil so much. "It's really great to have this vitamin C incorporated into my skin-care routine because it's been helping with that hyperpigmentation." She's been layering it over the brand's Squalane + Omega Repair Cream.

But it's not only her love of a Biossance product or two that convinced Witherspoon that she needed to be more than just a fan of the brand. The deeper she dove into Biossance's products and overall practices for creating its formulas, the more she realized that she admired the brand on multiple levels.
"I was blown away by how science-led it all was," Witherspoon tells Allure of Biossance's approach to clean beauty, a topic that she has personally been more invested in recently. Biossance products meet Allure's clean standard, but Witherspoon loves that they go beyond simply what the ingredients are — "how they're sourced is so important, too."
Witherspoon, who was until relatively recently the "storyteller-in-chief" for Elizabeth Arden, has been passionate about skin care for years, readily sharing her routine (including a vibrating facial roller) and favorite drugstore products (she's Team Cetaphil) in interviews and on social media. That zeal is due in part to being surrounded by so many other talented actors who are enthusiastic about their own skin-care regimens. "In just the past three, four years, I've been working with so many more women, which has been so nice," Witherspoon says. "Whether that's Nicole Kidman or Jennifer Aniston or Kerry Washington, every single woman has her own beauty routine, which is so fun to watch."
The Biossance partnership is literally brand-new, so not even Witherspoon knows the full extent of how her ambassadorship will take shape. In a press release, the brand foresees that she will help create educational skin-care content, curate limited-edition sets, and possibly even develop exclusive products. She has at least five years to figure that the details, though — that's how long she's signed on for. It's a long commitment, but apparently these two just really hit it off. Because while the science of the formulas is paramount, Biossance doesn't lose sight of "the charming side of skin care," Witherspoon says. "It's so important that it makes you feel good and like you're investing in yourself."
And if Biossance wasn't charming already, it most definitely is now with Witherspoon on its team.
