Here’s How Chrissy Teigen Overhauled Her Fridge With 4 Simple Steps
The kitchen fridge says a lot about someone. From the state of cleanliness exhibited on the shelves to the actual produce and contents housed within the fridge, it can reveal everything from our eating habits to our OCD. Some choose to colour coordinate, others go by good groups, while most of us simply squeeze and shove any old thing we can into the fridge, which explains why we find some meals years later that look well past their used by date.
But if fridge organisation has eluded you for most of your lifetime, Chrissy Teigen is here to help. Or at least, the model known for her delectable dishes and cooking prowess is enlisting the services of organising expert Krystal Guinn to teach you a thing or two about fridge organisation.
At the Cravings office HQ, Chrissy and Guinn utilised the office fridge to show just how easy it is to revamp the fridge and make sure everything is tidy going forward. To do so, they used the four-part philosophy Guinn has become known for which involves grouping, compartmentalising, visibility and uniformity as the key ways to keep things organised in the fridge.

Grouping
Guinn describes grouping as one of the most essential parts of organisation. In this stage, you look to keep like items with like items, and focus on themes and patterns. Suggestions for fridge tidiness include keeping dairy with dairy, and produce with produce. In doing so, you can also see when something is missing in your fridge, which is a good reminder for when you need to go to the store.
Compartmentalising
“Compartmentalising is the tip that’s going to help us to stay in the system,” describes Guinn. This involves things like a lazy Susan, drawer dividers, and other helpful refrigerator tools and accessories that can be used to group items, keeping them clean and organised.

Visibility
The third step is very important, as Guinn says it’s this stage that allows you to eliminate waste. “When stuff gets stuck behind the refrigerator or pushed back too far, it gets lost, and then the next thing we know it’s expired or we can’t use it anymore,” she explains. “The best things to consider are keeping the taller items in the back, as opposed to the shorter ones.” Clear containers are also a good way to improve visibility, while Chrissy prefers to use things like stasher bags that are reusable and made of silicone.
Uniformity
This is basically keeping the flow of your fridge in mind, as well as the aesthetic appeal. You want to keep it clean and beautiful, with one pro-tip offered by Guinn being to decant beverages for an extra clean aesthetic.
The results were truly impressive and there’s no doubt we’ll be putting these to good use this weekend in the hope we get a fridge like Chrissy’s.
