Paris Hilton Is Officially Engaged

She’s the woman many of us grew up with on our screens, a woman who embodied the word “influencer” before it became a covetable profession thanks to the likes of Instagram and social media. Now though, Paris Hilton is set to wed venture capitalist Carter Reum after he proposed to the entrepreneur on Saturday, February 13. 

As you’d expect, the proposal was a lavish celebration. The pair were celebrating Paris’ birthday on a private island (because naturally, where else would you go when you’re Paris Hilton). 

Images released of the couple show the pair posing on a stunning beach, with the sunlit backdrop proving so sensational, you almost have to wonder if it’s merely a backdrop that will come crashing down to reveal a CGI studio team operating behind them. But alas, the heavens did open for the star and her beau, causing a dazzling array of sparkles thanks in part to Paris’ Retrofete dress and crown from Loschy.

As for the engagement ring, the new emerald cut ring was designed by Jean Dousset – the great-great-grandson of Louis Cartier. Paris said of the engagement, “I am excited about this new chapter and having such a supportive partner. Our relationship is one of equals. We make each other better people. He was absolutely worth the wait!” 

For those unfamiliar with Paris’ new fiancé, he’s known as a “founder’s founder”, starting M13, a VC firm based in L.A. and New York City that’s invested in startups that have become household names – think Daily Harvest, Lyft, Ring, and Rothys. Reum says of his relationship with Paris, “From our very first date, I was able to get to know the real Paris. As people who have seen her documentary and recent advocacy work known, Paris is kind, smart, driven, authentic, and an amazing woman, and I can’t wait to have her as a partner in life.”

Paris released the documentary, This Is Paris, as a YouTube Original and, as many found themselves watching during lockdown, it became an Internet sensation. The documentary followed Paris’ experience as The Simple Life star turned business woman, and also gave an insight into her personal life and how she was abused as a teen. Since its release, Paris has been vocal about using her platform to support organisations like Breaking Code Silence, which hopes to eradicate the abuse of children in systemically abusive institutions.
