Glow Recipe Surprises K-Beauty Fans With a New Version of Its Beloved Cleanser

If I've learned anything from interviewing the glass-skinned members of K-pop groups and K-beauty experts, it's that thoroughly cleansing your skin before diving into the rest your skin-care routine is key. It's so crucial that many idols don't even count cleansing as a step because it's a given. Due to endorsement deals, K-pop stars can't share the exact face wash they use, but I would like to think they'd be a fan of my go-to K-beauty face wash: the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser, which sold out the day it launched in May 2017. I wear about as much makeup as them, and it effectively breaks down colorful eyeliner, copious amounts of mascara, and long-wearing foundation while leaving my skin feeling fresh and looking bright. Luckily, the cleanser just got even better because Glow Recipe launched a reformulated version of the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser today.

The most visible difference between the old Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser and the new-and-improved formula is its delivery system. The face wash now comes with an easy-to-use pump dispenser instead of a squeezable tube, so you can easily control how much product you're using. You'll also get 60 milliliters more of the cleanser for the same price as before: $34.

The biggest changes are in the fine print, though. Glow Recipe upped the amount of coconut oil in the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser's formulation to help dissolve makeup more efficiently. I usually slather the product directly onto dry skin to help melt away my makeup, so I'm excited to try out the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser 2.0 in the same way. Tweaks were also made to the overall formula to boost its performance.

Like the original, you can still use the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser as a clarifying mask, as Glow Recipe's cofounders Christine Chang and Sarah Lee recommend. All you have to do is smooth a couple pumps of the cleanser onto dry skin and let it sit for five minutes before rinsing. This helps the formula's exfoliating AHAs, like glycolic acid and lactic acid, slough away dead skin cells and smooth skin. All the while, hyaluronic acid ensures that your skin doesn't feel tight or raw after washing it away. Of course, the Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanse is still all about antioxidant-rich blueberry extract, which is an antioxidant that helps protect skin from the damaging effects of pollution and UV rays.

As mentioned earlier, the Glow Recipe Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser still rings up at $34. You'll also be able to purchase it at the same places. It's available now on glowrecipe.com and officially drops on sephora.com on August 21.
