The summer heat is not only an excuse to get outside and enjoy the weather, it’s also a huge culprit in heat-related illnesses. There are different degrees of heat-related illnesses, and they all present with differing levels of severity — for example, heatstroke can be fatal, but heat cramps aren’t life-threatening. 

Sunburn can get pretty severe too, and it can be hard to avoid the burning ball in the sky when you’re outside in the summer. Yes, a lot of this is common sense, but given how frequently people get sunburns, heatstroke or dehydrated, they’re worth mentioning again. And while we may be especially vigilant when it comes to making sure kids put on their sunscreen and drink plenty of fluids, we may not always be the best at taking care of ourselves.
